Lewis wind farm blocked

It was announced by the BBC¹ yesterday that the Scottish Executive has plans to block the Lewis wind farm proposed for the Western Isles of Scotland. This block could have consequences for future wind farm proposals in Scotland and the rest of UK.

The Scottish Executive bowed to the pressure from locals after receiving 5000 letters of complaints about the wind farm. If future plans for wind farms are blocked it could impact the UK’s goal to reduce green houses gases and cause the UK to default on it’s commitment to the EU’s road map for reducing CO² emissions.

The knock on effect to the consumer is that greener electricity will not continue to go down in price.
